What happened with the fire?
On Monday, August 22 at 12:40 PM we had a horrific fire due to an accident during a propane delivery. Thankfully, all our employees, family and animals are safe. The explosions and fire destroyed our two major buildings in the midway and damaged six others. The Tap Room is still intact. Many of you have reached out asking how you can help. Please support us by visiting the Apple Core on Noxon Road in Poughkeepsie, booking a climb at Tree Top Adventures, and by visiting the farm as we reopen. We also have eGift Cards available for purchase which are able to be used in all three locations. We have a great crop that will be open for picking starting Saturday, August 27 including tomatoes, hot and sweet peppers, squash, kirbys, cucumbers, zucchini, eggplant, and early variety apples. After that, the Farm will be open starting Friday, September 2 including the Tap Room and concessions. Tree Top Adventures has not been affected by the fire and remains open on weekends. Please make reservations online. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of community support, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the farm. #bartonstrong
What does it cost to visit the farm?
There is no admission weekdays when we do not have a festival scheduled. There is admission on festival weekends when we have activities and entertainment scheduled such as hayrides, magic shows, live music, corn maze, Fun Park and more! Details for festival weekends including pricing can be found on our event calendar, as well as Facebook and Instagram. Online tickets are typically posted on the Monday prior to each event, and tickets can also be purchased at the door the day of the event.
When are your festival weekends?

Why do I have to pay admission to the festival if I just want to pick apples and vegetables?
During the year, especially during the fall harvest season, we have festivals scheduled full of live music, fun family activities, great food, and games. We understand that some customers would like to just come to pick; however, we have one entrance to the farm and the festival activities are in the center of it all – so there is no way for us to separate the two. We encourage customers to visit the farm to pick during the week when festivals are not scheduled and there is no entry fee.
When will the vegetable garden be open?
The vegetable garden usually opens in late July. We will have more information available on our Facebook page and our Pick Your Own page as we get closer to this time of year. However, produce is highly dependent on the weather. This may impact the timing and availability of the vegetables we plant.
Can I bring outside food or beverages?
As a venue open to the public, we offer a variety of food and beverage options. Beer, wine, spirits are available in the Tap Room. Hot and cold drinks can be found in our concession areas and the Farm Market. Food items range from hamburgers, hot dogs and fries to ice cream and paninis. Please check our menus to see the full selection. Due to the amount of products we offer daily, outside coolers, food, and beverages are not allowed onto the property.
Can I bring my own wagon?
Yes, you can bring your own wagon. We have wagons for rent to use for Pick-Your-Own fruits and vegetables; however, we can sometimes run out. For safety reasons, children are not allowed to ride in the wagons.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, Barton Orchards welcomes well behaved dogs to the farm! Dogs must be leashed throughout the farm, with the exception of our dog park where they are allowed to run off leash. Dogs are allowed throughout the farm, including the orchard when picking. They are not allowed in the vegetable garden, inside buildings or in the corn maze. Owners must clean up after their dogs whether in the parking lot, on the farm, or in the dog park.
Do you have restrooms?
Yes, we have restrooms on site. In fact, Barton Orchards has a building off of the Midway devoted solely to restrooms with flush toilets. For those parents with children still in the diaper stage, we have a diaper changing station.
Is there a charge for parking?
No. There is no charge for parking at Barton Orchards.
Is the Tap Room open daily?
Yes. The Tap Room is currently open Monday through Thursday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, and festival weekends Saturday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. We typically have live music at the Tap Room on Friday and Saturday nights from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
There is no charge to enter the farm during weekdays when we do not have festivals, and after 5:00 pm on Saturdays. Food is also available at concessions during the week and during festivals.
What is there to do on the farm with my children?
Barton Orchards offers unlimited hayrides with your admission along with entertainment, a hay maze, playground, shooting gallery, duck races and gem stone mining bags for purchase. Active children, teenagers, and adults definitely enjoy weekends in the Fun Zone or wandering the corn maze. There is plenty of walking trails, animals to feed, and sunshine! You’ll get a good scare at the haunted house – suitable for ages 6 and up.

What is the address for Tree Top Adventures?
During non-peak season (Before September & month of November) days of the year, we ask that our customers check-in at the farm. The farm is located at 63 Apple Tree Lane, Poughquag, NY 12570. Climbers check-in at the farm market located in the midway. Otherwise, during the peak season festivals (September & October) we ask that climbers report directly to 176 Beekman-Poughquag Road, Poughquag, NY 12570 to check-in.
What if I am late because of traffic?
We understand that some circumstances are outside your control. However, we hope that you plan for traffic and potential unforeseen delays so that you arrive 30 minutes before your climb to check-in. If you are late for your climb, we will do our best to accommodate you, but it will depend on how late you arrive and may shorten your climbing time.
Why are there height and weight requirements?
Climbers need to be able to reach 6ft flat on their feet because you need to be able to reach the cables above and periodically switch clamps. A minimum weight of 60 lbs (maximum 275) is required so you have the right momentum on the zip lines. If you climb and do not meet these requirements you will not be able to complete the course on your own.
I need to cancel my climb. Can I get a refund?
If the climb(s) is canceled 48 hours or more in advance, you will get a full refund. This also applies if Barton Orchards cancels the climb due to inclement weather and unsafe climbing conditions. If the cancellation is made 24-48 hours beforehand, we will issue a partial refund of 50%. Any later or if you miss your climb, no refund will be issued. Please understand that our climbing spots are limited.
Can I visit the farm before and/or after my climb for free?
Yes, as long as there is no festival or special event taking place (click here for schedule). However, if there is one, you will need to purchase a separate ticket for that event.
Where is the Apple Core located?
The Apple Core is Barton Orchards’ year-round farm market and is located at 462 Noxon Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. It is NOT located at the farm.
